Wow! Your wedding dress is absolutely stunning! You wore it so beautifully. Sooo impressive that you and your Mum just 'whipped' that up a week out from the wedding!

Nothing quite like a last minute project eh! I did have a tablecloth version of it that I had been working on in Germany so that was used to create the pattern for the final version. Luckily I hadn't thrown that draft version in the bin when I got frustrated with it!

Love that fabric, Esta. I vote for the harvest boxy top; and make the jump suit it's fabulous! Oh, and wear that dress you made and love, it's too pretty not to get out of your wardrobe. 🙃

That's exactly the kind of enthusiasm I love Abby, thank you! I might try and be a little bit sensible and make a calico version of the jump suit first to see if it fits ok :)

What a great idea to bring our minds to how terrible fast fashion is and its not exactly a unique piece of clothing to wear is it. I haven't made a lot of garments but I do have three quilted jackets that I have made and one which was a quilt that I turned into a comfy dressing gown. Last winter I knitted a cardigan out of baby alpaca/fine merino wool 1 strand, and the other strand was mohair with silk. It was incredibly fine wool and unfortunately the cardigan came out too big so instead of just binning it, which crossed my mind during my bitter disappointment (and the wool was incredibly expensive), I carefully unpicked the whole cardigan and made it again! It was a challenge in patience and perseverance but at least I can wear it now. I ended up making another cardigan from the same pattern as it's just so light, soft and warm. So making our own garments also teaches us something about ourselves I think. You need to tell the story about your wedding dress Esta :)

I think unpicking a knitted garment that you spent a long time making says a lot about yourself and your values! Being resourceful and not wasteful, having perseverance and working hard to create something amazing! Those are things we could all do with living by a little more.

Ah my wedding dress, what a fun time that was eh ;) But like your cardigan, it all turned out in the end, luckily!

Have you still got the first wedding dress? What a challenge that would be to turn it into something else!

No, I donated it to a charity shop in the end as I couldn't sell it :( It would have been quite cathartic chopping it up and turning it into something else though!

Love this, and I am so inspired by all of the links. I haven't dabbled deeply into making clothing, but I did make a little dress from a vintage sheet last year that I will wear this month in honor of #memademay! :) Thanks for sharing--your wedding dress in INCREDIBLE!!

I don't know about you, but as a quilter I find sewing clothes really difficult! It's great when they work out though :) And that is so cool to make a dress from a vintage sheet! What a cool idea, I bet it looks great. My wedding dress was quite the stressful saga but I had always wanted to make my own wedding dress so I'm very glad it worked out in the end.
