December: CALENDARS
Hello makers,
Today I’m sharing the work of talented artists who use thread in unconventional ways. As a maker who loves textiles, I want to explore my own creativity with thread. I’ve played with stitching on paper a few times now and really love the feeling of the stiff paper compared with soft fabric.

If you’re not into embroidery or stitching, I hope you still enjoy the sheer mastery of the work below and use this as a permission slip to try it out!
Karin Lundström:
You have to check out Karin’s instagram as she has some incredible work, so many amazing and inspirational pieces that is was almost impossible to choose just a few! @karinlunds
Emily Barletta:
I’ve been following Emily’s work for years and every time I see a new piece of hers, I’m just in love. She uses a lot of red in her work and has been doing amazing things with merging thread and ceramics. But here are a few of her paper pieces. There are many, many more at EmilyBarletta.com.
Natalie Ciccoricco:
I briefly shared the work of Natalie Ciccoricco (aka. Mrs Ciccoricco) in the Eco-Art series. She has a series called “Color Holes” where she creates colour-matched circles on a range of items such as vintage postcards and fruit crate labels.
Alicia Godwin:
I’m in love with the mix of watercolours and thread in Alicia Godwin’s work! I delved into this combination a little bit making my notebooks but I definitely want to push myself further now. Thanks for inspiration Alicia!
The Watercolor and Embroidery pieces are all about abstract expression, fluidity and tension, freedom and rigidity, harmony and juxtaposition. - www.paintedladystudioag.com
Victoria Villasana:
Victoria Villasana (b. Guadalajara, Mexico) is a textile, installation and street artist. Her work primarily explores interconnection. Among her themes are the visionaries creating positive change throughout history, pop culture, social causes, and our reconnection with nature.
