Celebrating the Art of Hand-Drawn Patterns
A journey through shapes, lines and the art of expression.
January: PATTERN PLAY
Hello makers,
Today I’m sharing a bunch of stunning images to inspire you to get your pens and paints out and play with making your own patterns. You don’t need fancy materials, a simple pencil or biro does the job. You just might need a steady hand and a lot of patience for some of these!

Ok, so not all of those were hand drawn in the traditional sense (but I think drawing with thread is the same thing!). And who said you had to draw patterns on paper? Walls and pottery are great surfaces too!
That’s all from me today as I’ve reached the email length limit (thanks Substack or I wouldn’t know when to stop!).
Please share with your friends if they want to explore their creativity this year. And send me a message if there are any themes you’d like to see on Seek To Make this year :)
Happy making as always,
Esta
Once again you have shown us some beautiful examples of patterns. I feel that making some of these patterns could have been quite a mindful project, like slow stitching is. Sometimes we need to work at something that's not necessarily going to be finished in five minutes!
This writing and your beautiful examples really brought me joy today. I'm laid up with flu and feeling pretty frustrated and fed up, so thanks for your efforts.
